About
My current research is on medieval religious women, and in particular on Godstow Abbey outside Oxford, founded in the twelfth century. I’m editing the monastery’s Latin cartulary and working on a history of the house. This is a long-term project that has included a number of detours; I’ve posted some of the products of that wandering on this site. I’m interested in the lived spiritual, social, and political experiences of religious women and also in the other individuals and groups who were connected with them, both clerical and lay. My research on Godstow extends to the lives of the ex-religious in the post-Dissolution years.
